From the Sahara to the Philippines: Monjaro EM-i Brings World-Record-Proven Technology Closer to Filipino Drivers

Before the Monjaro EM-i arrives in the Philippines, the model has already been put through one of the world’s most demanding driving environments.

In Egypt, the Monjaro EM-i set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title in September for the “Fastest crossing of Egypt’s Black and White Deserts in the Sahara by a plug-in hybrid powered production SUV,” completing a continuous 188.6-kilometer route from the Black Desert to the White Desert under extreme heat and challenging terrain.

The record-setting drive was not simply about covering distance. The Monjaro EM-i was subjected to five professional capability challenges covering extreme handling and stability, repeated steep-slope climbs, cross-axle recovery, rough-terrain ride comfort and acceleration at a low state of charge.

At the heart of the vehicle is Geely’s EM-i Super Hybrid system, paired with an intelligent electric AWD system designed to continuously adapt torque distribution according to road conditions. The Monjaro EM-i also features Continuous Damping Control suspension and an intelligent power-management system designed to maintain responsive performance even under demanding conditions.

But global capability is only the beginning.

Next: A First Look in the Philippines

This October, selected Philippine automotive media will get an early look at the Monjaro EM-i, with the SUV joining a Geely media drive in Northern Luzon as a sneak peek ahead of its local launch.

Following its global rollout, the Monjaro EM-i is now preparing for its next chapter in the Philippines, where Geely Motor Philippines will introduce its new D-segment hybrid SUV to local consumers.

The Monjaro EM-i combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid-specific engine with electric drive, delivering up to 250 kW of system power and 667 Nm of torque. Its intelligent electric AWD system, advanced suspension and hybrid power management are designed to balance performance, control and comfort across different driving conditions.

From the Sahara to Philippine roads, the next test is closer to home.

And this time, Filipino media will be behind the wheel.
