Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), in partnership with Toyota Alabang Inc. (TAI), is driving innovation and road safety education forward with its Kids Tech Workshop at the Toyota Alabang Service Center.
Designed to inspire young minds, the event offered a dynamic mix of interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, transforming automotive learning into a fun-filled adventure for children and their families. Through engaging experiences, TMP reinforced the importance of road safety from an early age, shaping the next generation of smart and responsible drivers.
Children ages 4 to 18 participated in interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that introduced them to the fundamentals of car mechanics and road safety. Amongst the participants in the activity were Sia and Sab, with their cousins Gia, and Georgia.
“I got to put together an engine,” shared Sia, one of the participants of the Kids Tech Activity, while Georgia proudly recalled “building the engine and assembling the windshield wiper.” Sab mentioned “changing the tires and using the power tools,” and Gia added that she worked on “taking off the bumper and figuring out how to put it back.”
In addition to hands-on learning, the children gained valuable insights on automotive technology. Sab focused on learning “the names of the parts in the engine,” while Georgia and Gia explored “the benefits of hybrid cars and their mechanisms,” emphasizing how this technology helps people and the planet.
Their curiosity and enthusiasm didn’t stop there. When asked if they wanted to learn more about cars, their responses revealed budding aspirations: “I want to learn how to drive,” said Sia. Gia expressed interest in “learning more about Toyota’s history,” while Georgia shared a big dream: “Yes, and even join the TGR Philippine Cup someday just like my father.” TGR Philippine Cup is TMP’s premier motorsport event.
Another highlight of the event was a live demonstration of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) — Toyota’s advanced suite of safety technologies. The demonstration was conducted in a safe environment inside the service center. Kids and parents got to watch the Pre-Collision System (PCS) in action.
“I’m very impressed, and very grateful there are events like this for kids,” shared Ian Magbanua, guardian of Sia, Sab, Gia, and Georgia. “They enjoyed the RC course, the sim rig, and the engine rebuild,” he added. When asked about his daughters’ understanding of automotive technology, he responded, “I’ve yet to see any real interest or improvement, but hopefully something is brewing inside their brains.”
“Here at Toyota, we believe that education plays a crucial role in building a safer and more innovative future,” said Andy Ty, Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services. “The automotive industry will continue to evolve with and for the younger generation, so it is important to increase their awareness and interest in the industry that already plays a part in their daily lives. Kids Tech is a great way to showcase the automotive industry, and we hope there are more opportunities to do so,” he added.
