“NUTS” ABOUT 370Z!

Some people go to extreme lengths to own the car of their dreams. Theft. Selling drugs. Other say they’d sell part of their anatomy. Some, like Mark Parisi, actually do it – selling one of his testicles to medial science for $35,000 so he could buy a Nissan 370Z. While some will reel at the thought of losing one of their testicles over a car, others wonder why he went to all that trouble and then only bought a 370Z — $35,000 could get you something even more interesting on the used market. For everyone else, Parisi is proof people often buy flashy sports cars to make up for deficiencies in other areas.

A survey was recently conducted by CarInsurance.com to determine the 12 most embarrassing cars from the last decade. Based on the poll, Smart ForTwo was determined to be the most embarrassing vehicle over the last decade in which to be seen. Sure it’s easy to park, is reasonably affordable and gets good gas mileage, but 48 percent of those queried found the ForTwo to be a visual abomination, and it reportedly won as many number one votes in that regard as the next four vehicles combined.

A Mazda representative has announced the next generation of the Mazda2 will appeal to the feminine crowd. The new Mazda2 will likely see the light of day sometime next year and according to the company’s design chief for Europe, Peter Birtwhistle, it will be “designed to appeal to a predominately feminine customer base.” As a consequence, Mazda says they had no other way but to avoid implementing “too much visual muscle” into the car’s styling.

Sporting a bright blue color, the car will be coming with the same transmission as the six-speed automatic that’s gone through a little tweaking and connected to better paddle shifters. The six-cylinder T6 engine gets a new twin-scroll turbo and intercooler, says Volvo, to produce 350 hp at 369 lb-ft of torque. All this runs through a Haldex four-wheel drive system and can scoot the car to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds on its way to an electronically-limited 155 mph.
