French automaker Bugatti has launched a new test drive program in North America that the company says is aimed at “ultra-high net worth individuals” and “enthusiasts of exclusive super sports cars.” No, they don’t mean your average internet forum enthusiast but rather individuals with a number of supercars already among their collection. The program allows qualified prospects to drive the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse on closed roads and airport runways, where they can take the car to its limits and receive tips from Bugatti’s own test drivers. When they’re not driving, the guests enjoy five-star hospitality and opportunities to network with other participants in the program.

PHENOMENAL PAGANI

screenshot20131203at12_20_31pm

The Pagani Huayra is a rare breed — we know it exists, yet no one has really had the opportunity to spend time reviewing it for the masses. XCar has stepped forward to fill that void, and they did so with Italy as the beautiful backdrop. The 13 minute video, now available for public viewing in YouTube, shows you more of the Pagani Huayra than ever before and the host reviews the ride artistic, technological, and emotional features in an accent that makes it sound more important than if we were to do it.

Happy Wednesday, mga Kapuso! Three more days until the weekend, which means three more days until you get another truckload of the latest motoring tidbits. As usual, we’ve got an awesome lineup for you, so sit back and enjoy the ride! From Tokyo, let’s go back home as we showcase the 2013 Manila Auto Salon. Held annually, this motoring event is where the leaders of the Philippine automotive aftermarket industry converge to show the latest trends in vehicle customizing in all areas of styling and tuning. Speaking of local, let’s hear the newest news from the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI), the country’s premier automotive award-giving body, which is celebrating its 10th year. Next stop, we’ll be switching to high gear as we witness the launch of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S Class, the brand’s flagship sedan. Mercedes-Benz Philippines will be offering the S 500 through Cats Motors Inc. We’ll also travel down to south as we pay a visit to the Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology, Inc., a world-class technical training school at the Toyota Special Economic Zone (TSEZ) in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The school, which recently started its operations, is specifically established for the training of after-sales technicians who will be deployed in service centers both here and abroad. Finally, let’s celebrate with Chevrolet as they mark 102 years of automotive engineering with the 2013 “Chevrolet Motorama”. Held at the SM Mall of Asia Ice Skating Rink, the event was filled with awesome entertainment, on-the-spot ownership promos, cool car exhibits, test drives and the latest and exciting Chevrolet line-up. Still catching your breath after all those things to watch out for? Tune in on and be more amazed, only on Turbo Zone, 10:30 AM on GMA News TV.

TV ADDICT!

charger

The most generous Dodge Charger owner of all time goes to this fella. You see, putting TVs inside your car is selfish. The passengers will love it, but what about your fellow drivers? Don’t they deserve to catch 30 seconds of music videos while they sit at a red light? One car owner in Memphis, U.S. thinks so — he put 32-inch spinners and TV screens on each door for all the other motorists to see.

TWICE THE FUN!

2013 Canadian Grand Prix - Sunday

Formula 1 drivers will be forced to make two pit stops as well as face a strict limit on how long they can stay out for if teams accept proposals for new 2014 tire rules next month. If accepted and then agreed upon by the F1 Commission and FIA’s World Motor Sport Council, the rules will demand that each driver must stop twice during the race to fit new tires. Furthermore, drivers will not be allowed to use the ‘prime’ specification of tires for more than 50 percent of the race distance, while the ‘option’ compound will not be allowed to be used for more than 30 percent of the race distance. Should the rule changes be accepted, they will almost certainly reduce the importance of tire strategy in the races as there will no longer be an incentive to eke out longer life from the tires.
