HOT CARS… LITERALLY

In one of the most expensive pileups in recent memory, three Lamborghinis (two Gallardos and an Aventador) crashed into each other and caught fire on an expressway in Malaysia recently. The three Lambos were part of a five-car convoy traveling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. One driver apparently lost control and hit the guardrail, and the other two didn’t react fast enough to avoid slamming into their comrade. It’s unclear how fast the cars were going, or how close they were to each other when the first one wiped out.

More than 1,000 people expressed interest in buying a LaFerrari within days of its debut, so it comes as little surprise that CNBC is reporting the model has been completely sold out. Designed to be the ultimate supercar, the LaFerrari has a 6.3-liter V12 engine that develops 800 HP (588 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Only 499 LaFerraris will be built and just 120 of them are destined for the United States where they reportedly cost $1.4 million.

NOT SO WITTY AFTER ALL…

man-arrested-for-ste-2w

Many people would do just about anything to get something that was once owned by a celebrity, but what this man — and we use the term “man” loosely — did is beyond imagination. Eighteen-year-old Jameson Witty took it upon himself to to own a piece of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT involved in Paul Walker’s fatal accident. According to the reports, Witty and an accomplice followed the tow truck that scooped up the Porsche’s remains and stole the Carrera’s roof panel (pictured above) while the truck was stopped at a red light. That, folks, is not only stealing, but it is also interfering with a police investigation and tampering with evidence. Witty was arrested at his residence in California were the police found the red roof panel, and will have the risk of being charged with felony grand theft.

SECRET FEATURE?

2015-ford-mustang_100448873_l

Ford has finally taken the covers off its redesigned, sixth-generation Mustang but the Blue Oval hasn’t revealed all the details just yet. In fact, the car’s chief engineer Dave Pericak has revealed that Ford is holding back on releasing details for some exciting new features found on the 2015 Mustang, one of which will be an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) first. There are a myriad of possibilities for this ‘secret’ feature but one possibility that would prove interesting is a system that could help drivers execute the perfect burnout, just as current launch control systems help drivers get off the line perfectly. The secret will be revealed by the end of next month as that is when Ford will be officially presenting the car at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
