According to a recent report, McLaren is developing a new supercar to slot between the 12C and the P1.Tentatively dubbed the P15, the model will reportedly have a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a mid-mounted, turbocharged engine. Additional information is limited but speculation suggests the car could use a heavily revised version of the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 that powers the 12C. New rumors are suggesting that Toyota wants the GT86 and FR-S Convertible, this time without the help of Subaru. With this in mind Toyota asked all of its dealers and Scion dealers around the world to submit volume targets for such a model. If interest has increased, Toyota could start looking into the possibility of manufacturing open-top GT86 and FR-S models. Will you be joining the petition?

True or False: The new F-150 is made of aluminum

_MG_5879-sm

There’s a rumor that the F-150s on display in Detroit—the ones representing the new aluminum-bodied 2015 model—were magnetic. As in, magnets stuck to them. Which would mean that they’re not, in fact, made of aluminum. However, a Road & Track’s experiment proved Ford’s claims that the new trucks are made with military-grade aluminum, explaining only that the alloys are 6000-series. (It’s likely that Ford is using several alloys in a variety of gauges on the 2015 pickups.) While all aluminum alloys, including the 6000s, have some small percentage of iron in them, it’s not enough to get a fridge magnet to stick to them.

DREAM SHOWROOM

With winter in full swing, most supercars in Canada have been forced back into their garages. Even though snow is falling, ZR Auto is busy with new shop projects, car customization and extreme horsepower upgrades. The ZR Auto showroom is full of owner Zahir Rana’s personal collection as well as many cars on consignment. Though the ZXX sits dormant next to the candy-apple green Techart/Sportec tuned Porsche 911, spring is just around the corner, and it will be eating up the pavement once again.

CONCEPT: LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR

This is what supercar tuner DMC came up with — an indescribable piece of engineering that we don’t even know where to begin. It’s already been christened as the Lamborghini Aventador LP1200-4R and in true Lambo nomenclature, the “1200” on its name is representative of the 1,200 horsepower DMC is capable of getting out of the exotic’s 6.5-liter, V-12 engine. Doing that, though, will constitute adding twin-turbos, as well as increasing the displacement by 1.2 liters to a mammoth 7.7-liter engine. To be clear, this is still a concept, and there are no hints of it being built and developed in the future. But when the company said that it could build a $2.5 million program for the Aventador and it shows something like this, clearly DMC isn’t joking. Source: Top Speed
